Spring Equinox is here!
Spring Equinox – tomorrow, Sunday March 2oth.
The spring equinox is one of the four great solar festivals of the year. Day and night are equal, poised and balanced, but about to tip over on the side of light. The spring equinox is sacred to dawn, youth, the morning star and the east. The Saxon goddess, Eostre (from whose name we get the direction East and the holiday Easter) is a dawn goddess, like Aurora and Eos. Just as the dawn is the time of new light, so the vernal equinox is the time of new life.
A nice spring Equinox celebration:
Stand outside facing east. Imagine in that rainbow of light that showers down from the sun, that the green ray of that light is flowing from the east toward your body. You can imagine that green light or green Qi coming into you through your crown of your head or the pores of your skin. As the green fills your body it brings with it healing and balancing for your liver and gallbladder energy, organs, and meridians. It reminds you that all is possible in this time of new growth and expansion. Feel your own softness as you connect to the wood energy of the season and also the strength and power of the trees that know how to bend in the storm and yet remain standing. Allow your creativity to blossom like the new buds shooting up from the earth.
