The Qi Gong of the Bladder and Kidney Movements

The Qi Gong of the bladder and kidney movements from Fabien Maman’s Tama-Do Academy:

Toa Yin Fa Series 1: In this series, you stretch the meridians, which sends Qi to the organs and empowers them, while you use breath, color, and sound with your awareness and intention to direct the Qi where it needs to go.

We are starting with the kidney and the bladder because these are the organs of the water element, which is the winter element.

Bladder Recipe:

Ground yourself in mother earth. Allow her energy to elevate your legs. Breathe slow and deep, in and out of the lower dantian (energy center). Hold the earth with your right hand, and press the little toe into the earth. Hear the sound of water. Breathe in and lift the left hand to the sky and lower right foot back on the same little toe. Hold the breath, sink into the position, and send dark blue to the bladder and the bladder meridians on the right side. Allow the Qi to balance the meridians. Breathe out while sounding the water sound and bringing the right foot back to the front – releasing all fear from this side of the body and chakras connected to the bladder. Repeat this process for a total of six cycles, three rounds on each foot.

Kidney Recipe:

Ground yourself in mother earth. This kidney recipe asks you to envision the same color and sound as the bladder recipe. Begin by stretching the right foot out with the heel on the ground and KD1 pt. reaching out. When the foot comes to the back, place it on the ground, with the leg straight and the left knee bent. Hands start down with the thumb pointing down and palms facing out. Raise up the water with yours hands – straight above your head – and hold a ball of light/water element over your head. Finish with hands over lower dantian (energy center) and sound of  ha.

For an in person demonstration of these recipes or if you have any questions regarding this practice, make sure you come to Qi Gong class on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 – 9:30 AM.
